How...? Happy Families

Upper-Intermediate and above

This game is to review the 'How' question which is used in many different ways.

Students have to collect four cards from any 'How...?' family. The student who collects the most families is the winner.

Scrambled Conversation Starters

Intermediate and above

This game is to review the different conversation starters and help the students speak more freely when talking or discussing everyday subjects which could crop up in different situations.

First the students unscramble the words and then they have a chance to speak for a minute using one of the words. 

 

Bingo - Tenses

Advanced and above

This game is to review the different tenses: Present, Past and Future. Each Bingo board has eight verbs and eight time expressions.

Students make up sentences using the verb and time expression on their Bingo board. For example: (go/yesterday) I went to the supermarket yesterday. 

 

Lotto - Word Clues

Elementary and above

This game is to review the different vocabulary from our Intermediate Book. Each Lotto board has eight words. The students read the clue cards and find the word on their board. For example: A meal you make in the morning - breakfast.

Students make up sentences using the word on their Bingo board. For example: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

Prepositions and Gerunds - Talk About

Intermediate and above

This game is to review prepositions and gerunds. There are seven different phrase cards that end in a preposition:

addicted to •afraid of •famous for •dream about •good at •insist on •interested in

The students finish a sentence when they place their phrase card on the table. For example: I am addicted to eating chocolate. 

Sentences - Any Line

Intermediate and above

This game is to create sentences and review vocabulary. 

This game contains: 8 Boards - 6 verb cards (across)- 12 noun cards (down)

The student picks up a card from each pile (across and down, for example: shopping and butter). The student says a sentence. For example, “Whenever I make a cake, I need to  go shopping for butter".

Memory Game - Vocabulary

Beginners and above

This game is to review vocabulary. Each student in turn has to find a matching pair - a category and something from that category. For example: winter/cold or month/July.

Students make up sentences using the two words. For example: (month/July) It is hot in the month of July.

 

Snap - Vocabulary

Beginners and above

This game is to review vocabulary. Each student  turns over the top card of his/her pile and places it on the table, naming it as he/she does so.

When one or more cards match (are from the same category), the first student to notice the two or more matched cards calls out “Snap!”, and wins all the cards. 

That student says a sentence with  the word form one of the cards.

 

Sentences - Any Line

Beginners and above

This game is to create sentences and review vocabulary. 

This game contains: 8 Boards - 6 verb cards (across)- 12 noun cards (down)

The student picks up a card from each pile (across and down, for example: home and dog). The student says a sentence. For example, “My dog lives in my home".

Word Grasp - Vocabulary

Intermediate and above

The idea of the game is to finely tune word recognition and develop reading skills. 

2-4 players can play the game together. The students have to find two identical words, one on his card and one on the card in the middle.

The students say sentences with the word. 

 

Turn Over - Grammar

Beginners and above

This game involves a certain amount of strategy in order to win.

It reviews time expressions used with the Present Simple and Present Progressive Tenses.

The students pick up a sentence card and place it on a time expression card and say a sentence. For example: I am going to a party - I am going to a party now.

This game is to review questions and answers using different tenses
